Karen: Karen is the shorter of the two girls, and almost entirely unfazeable. From Beet's neurotic athleticism to her friend Becky's seemingly endless stream of surreal new acquaintences, she faces weirdness with unflinching stoicism and a deadpan remark. However, she is not completely imperturbable, and in particular she displays a low tolerance for Becky's deliberate punning.
MTV's Daria almost certainly exerted some subconscious influence on Karen's character design and personality.
Becky: The taller of the two girls, Becky greets the bizarre with cheerful optimism. Seldom nonplussed, she keeps a smile on her face and a healthy measure of xenophila about her. She is always ready to lend a helping hand, whether to friends celebrating birthdays, on-the-run vampires, or skeletons with confidence issues.
Becky has a large collection of tongue-in-cheek t-shirts that make fun of nerd culture. If you venture out into the real world, you can find these t-shirts and perhaps even steal them. We decidedly advocate the more legal means of t-shirt acquisition available to you, but we cannot deny that the option is there.
Rene Descartes: A notable 16th-century French philosopher and mathematician, as well as a close personal friend of the Pungirls, Descartes substantially influenced the course of modern thought with his various works. In the field of mathematics, he was the founder of modern algebra and the Cartesian coordinate system, which later proved crucial to Newton's development of the Calculus. Philosophically, he is best known for his "methodic doubt," by which he intended to find a secure and indubitable foundation for knowledge, and the first principle that he arrived at by his doubt: "I think, therefore I am." He apparently has dreams of opening a cafeteria-style restaurant, and often finds himself put before the horse. You can see that this is so even in the Pungirls! cast list.
Dmitri Ramirovich Antropov: A vampire who lives in a secret castle with an indeterminate number of anthropomorphic coffins (at least three). He previously held a grudge against Becky and Karen for past events, but has since buried the hatchet and is back on good terms with them. His arch-nemesis is the vampire hunter Alexander Van Helsing. Dmitri represents the marginalized "other" of society who suffers for his or her differences and stands outside of normal human social structures. Also he is sometimes visited by Superman. You may read the tragic tale of his rage and sufferings by beginning here.
Alexander Van Helsing: A member of the International Vampire Hunter's Bureau, Alexander Van Helsing is ruthless to a fault. He refuses to let anything stand in his way when pursuing his vampiric target. He's callous, arrogant, and he really hates vampires. Plus, well, how shall we put this...he's kind of creepy. I mean, he's slick, but not slick like James Bond. Slick like you can almost see the slime dripping off of him.
Alexander Van Helsing has a particular vendetta against Dmitri, which only grows stronger each time the vampire escapes his grasp.
